The Monastery of the Ascension, Jerome, Idaho

Monastery of the Ascension, Jerome, IdahoWelcome to the Benedictine Monks of Idaho. If you are discerning your calling from God, we hope that the information you find here will be helpful. You can also learn more about us at www.idahomonks.org.

The picture to the left shows the front of the Monastery of the Ascension and its ministry center, located just east of Jerome, Idaho, and ten miles north of Twin Falls, Idaho. The surrounding area is agricultural, with mountains on the far horizon. Here in southern Idaho, the fields are irrigated by water from the Snake River and from deep wells. Agriculture has made the land is so productive that the area has become known as "Magic Valley."

Idaho is not only famous for potatoes. It also offers great scenery (such as this view of the Snake River Canyon at Twin Falls) and outdoor living in all seasons of the year.

Our rapidly growing Hispanic population offers opportunities for special ministries, especially for Spanish speaking members of the community as they help out in various parishes and in the civic community. Brother José, a Basque originally from Spain, is especially in demand to help migrant workers and others with immigration and with processing documents, etc. The presence and work of all the monks is greatly appreciated throughout Idaho.
